BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art the focuses on using leverage and technique to overcome size and strength. A Jiu Jitsu practitioner know how to easily escape when pinned to the ground. They will be able to apply sweeps and takedowns to put an opponent onto the ground when they can then be controlled. If necessary, a Jiu Jitsu practitioner will also know how to apply devastating submission attacks such as arm locks, leg locks and chokes. Jiu Jitsu is a very effective self defense art that is also very commonly practiced as a sport.
Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program is open to people of all levels of fitness, all ages, and is very beginner friendly. We focus on training "with" each other, as opposed to training "on" each other. When trained with good control, Jiu Jitsu can be drilled and sparred at a high level of intensity, without risk of injury. Sparring is always optional in our Jiu Jitsu classes, however it is encouraged. Control and safety are always a priory.
Practicing Jiu Jitsu is often thought of like a mental and physical game of chess. There is a counter for every technique, and a counter for that counter. It is a very deep and rich martial art, but is also a lot of fun to train. Improved fitness, endurance, flexibility, mobility and agility are just some of the benefits of training this art.
